Bradford LINk held a meeting to find out more about what health and social care services in the area can do to make the lives of people with Autism and Asperger's Syndrome easier. About 50 people came to the meeting in Saltaire.
We were told that there are a lot of misunderstandings about the conditions and even professionals who should be supporting those affected need to learn more about them. We were also told it needs to be easier to get diagnosed with the condition, and the process for being assessed for support needs to be revised to meet the needs of people with the conditions, which are often referred to as 'hidden disabilities'.
Bradford LINk has written a report based on what people told us and has given copies to the people who decide what services should be available to people with Autism and Asperger's Syndrome in the district.
