Autism and Asperger's Syndrome are also known as Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC). People with these conditions have difficulty with social communication, and making sense of people's thoughts, feelings and actions. It is sometimes called a 'hidden disability'.
Over 50 people came to a Bradford LINk meeting to tell us what they think about services for people with Autism and Asperger's Syndrome in the district. Bradford LINk has written a report about what we were told and given it to some of the people who make big decisions about the services.
As a result of this meeting we have started a workgroup that meets regularly to find ways of improving services for adults with autism in Bradford and Airedale
People who make important decisions about what services are available in the district for those with an Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) come to the meetings and listen to the experiences and opinions of group members. As a result the group has been influencing some big decisions.
The group will be working with the Personalization and Changing Lives Team at Bradford Council to help ASC friendly materials.
They have also told representatives working from the council what they think of plans to change services for people with an Autistic Spectrum Condition. Some of these ideas and plans have been included in the plan.
Listen to members of our group talk about the work they have been doing below
